FEBRUARY 7-13, 2022

We received new missionary name tags - in Welsh!  We are trying to learn how to pronounce the name of the Church.  It is hard!   We have to go SLOW!   Slow as a snail

Chichi has hired a Welsh tutor.  He is a diligent seeker and learner of everything - and he says ‘learning Welsh is hard’.  AGREED.  But there is power in our missionary name tags and I'm sure he will accomplish his goal!  I will be happy with a few simple phrases.

 Each morning when I put my tag on, I feel energized and motivated to be the best disciple I can be as we teach and testify.  Weekly we teach young adult institute.  Weekly we teach a temple preparation class.  Weekly we attend youth activities and help.  Weekly we teach discussions to Kev and Elisha. Semi weekly we teach Gospel Principles in Sunday School.  Frequently we teach and testify to the young elders and sisters as we meet with them, drive them, eat with them, zoom with them. There is an extra portion of the Spirit of the Holy Ghost as we share the Gospel with a large group or a companionship.  As I bear my testimony of gospel truths to others, I feel my own testimony has enlarged.  Heavenly Father blesses us all.

We enjoyed being in the Preston Temple with our district.  The family name I was proxy for was GWENDOLYN LAURA Catt.  I had two of you extra close to my heart the entire time!  Another senior couple, who lives10 minutes away from the temple, feeds dinner to every district- every month after the endowment session.  That is service!

We had a fun rainy Saturday with all the other senior couples in the city -Stoke on Trent. We toured the Gladstone pottery factory and a Wedgwood museum.  It is so interesting to learn about different places and people.  They had a hard life and many still do.




We encountered our first ‘traffic jam’ on ministering visits!

SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST!  We had a spirit filled discussion with Kev and Elisha Friday afternoon. We invited them to be baptized and they both eagerly accepted.  IT WAS SO AMAZING!!!  IT FELT SO AMAZING!!! We truly love them.  We will continue teaching them to enter the waters of baptism, and continue teaching them afterwards to enter the Temple.  Along the way, we are praying their daughters will desire join.  We are always so happy to be with Kev and Elisha that we forget to take a picture.  This week we will!


While we are happy and busy here, our hearts…and prayers…are always with each of you.  We love you…so much

This week’s missionary work has been busy, productive and varied! Our best week so far.  I am so happy -Each Sunday evening we have a mission wide Zoom devotional.  Tonight Mike and I were invited to be the speakers.  We felt the power of the Holy Ghost as we shared thoughts and bore our testimonies. -Monday we drove to the Manchester Mission Office (2 hours away) and met with all the other senior missionaries, including President and Sister Johnson, for a surprise 50th birthday dinner for Emily Mitchell, a senior sister who is the mission nurse.  She is a really neat woman we spent a few days sightseeing with earlier this month and we love to be around her.   We enjoyed a great dinner with everyone.  Since our assignment on Isle of Anglesey is far away from all other seniors (and most young elders/sisters), we really enjoy times like this to mingle with the other missionary couples. -Tuesday included lots of driving to ‘find’ members on the Gaerwan ward li...

AUGUST 30-SEPTEMBER 30, 2022

‘SISTER BAYALAGMAA BAYARLKHAGVA’ I’ve posted before about Sister Bella staying with us for a week between transfers a few months ago.We grew to love her, enjoyed our week together and thought that would be the last we saw her because she would be finishing her mission in six weeks and returning to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.  President  Tunnicliff called one morning and asked us if we would be willing to let Sister Bella stay with us for the last few weeks of her mission because of some specific needs.  Of course we quickly said ‘yes’ and prepared for her to be with us. Elder Rasband asked us a question in October 2017 general conference - “What are God's miracles in your life that remind you that He is close?”  He encouraged us to find daily experiences that show us the Lord is in the small details as well as the major milestones in our lives. (1st Journal entry of our mission) “I LOVE WEARING A MISSIONARY NAMETAG ! I love my name linked to the name of Jesus Christ. This has been a special first week in the MTC.  I definitely have felt ‘heaven on earth’.  We are in the world, but not of the world as we are here.  But we are buoying ourselves up as individuals and companions to go out into the world of Manchester England to help others find ‘heaven on earth’.  Our district companions have been amazing.  From a couple ages 77, both converts, who have already served 3 missions together, to another couple from Canada who wanted to serve outside their country and were called not far from their home to live on a First Nation reservation in a trailer, and a third couple, youngest of all of us, ages 58, going to Portugal where she doesn’t know the language, so will speak the language of “love”.  We rounded out the district, just grateful to be a part.  This is my first ‘journal’ entry, and I am find...
